in the trenches

jennie ever since i went on a vintage shopping trip to the haight and saw racks full of trenches, i've become more and more drawn to them. i've been trying to be more fashion-conscious in my workwear, and i feel that a classic trench is essential. hopefully i can make the time this weekend to find one! (please let me know if you have any suggestions for good places with fair prices.) and i know this is far from my style, but i've also been in love with fur trim coats and anything that reminds me of mad men.
so it was quite a treat as i was looking at various designers while waiting for this rainy week to pass, when i came upon nina ricci's pre-fall 2010 collection. classic, tailored coats were a focal point and something i can definitely get down with.

obviously, this is not how i dress. honestly, it's not how i really aspire to dress. (maybe for a fun semi-formal occasion.) while i tend to dress in a range from very basic to rocker, i always appreciate neutrals and muted colors and a range from ephemeral drapery to tailored cuts.
but this outfit from the collection, in my opinion, was so lovely and something i could try. i love androgyny, and i think this gets it for me while still erring on the side of ladylike.

i'm very much obsessed! Static has burberry trenches right now in gorgeous colors. you should go. or we should go together. btw, your computer is saving me!
I agree! I love muted tones and I am into men's wear right now. The last look is great. I need some good socks with heels!
I am not really a trench person either, I bought a great one (6 months ago) and have only worn it twice, but I will have it forever and that's what matters!
As much as I love long coats and their glamorous, sophisticated look, I am WAY too short for them. But a good neutral pastel palette here
It would be mine
