i survived 2009 - part I

should auld acquaintance be forgot and never brought to mind? should old acquaintance be forgot and auld lang syne? amen to that!
new year's eve for me was such a big night, i've decided to break it down into two posts. i thought i'd keep the first one simple and show what i wore to ring in the new year. my night would have made any man jealous because i had four gorgeous girls at my house for dinner. (however, it was all good clean fun.) erin from calivintage, liz from late afternoon, christina from profresh style, aimee from song of style, and their photographers... i mean, boyfriends... joined shannon and me for an amazing five course vegan meal made by shannon. we also got to meet liz's nasty gal vintage bf/coworker nick, who is a hilarious and fun person. i had a great time, and i think they all did too. it was so great to see the girls again and meet their boyfriends. my apartment was packed, and we used every dish we had!
you may remember from my 'white elephant' post that i got the rodarte for target ribcage dress. well, new year's eve is definitely the night for sequins, i had to wear it!
i'm not a very tall girl - only 5'4", so the dress was a little long on me (the hem was to my knees!). it was also a bit big. fortunately, i had a quick and simple fix: belt the dress up! all i did was put a skinny belt around my waist and pull up the fabric so that it draped over the belt, making it hidden from sight. i was happy with the adjustment. my other problem is that i don't like my shoulders/arms very much, and the dress is a tank dress that cuts at an unflattering spot on my shoulders. i put on my new purple blazer, and voila, problem solved!
